4.0 out of 5 stars Good Thing to Have in Case of Emergency!, January 29, 2011

This review is from: 4 Person Survival Kit Deluxe Perfect Earthquake, Evacuation, Emergency Disaster Preparedness 72 Hour Kits for Home, Work or Auto: 4 Person
This is a great product to have, although a bit more costly than the contents warrant. However, after years of attending disaster preparedness classes that instruct you to put together a kit of your own, I had yet to do it. So, better safe than sorry - I wanted to go ahead and purchase a kit that was already put together. You pay for the convenience, but it definitely will be worth it if a disaster ever happens!

Living on California's coast it is important to have a disaster survival kit on hand for earthquakes, tsunamis or other catastrophes. The 4 person survival kit has everything you and your loved ones will need to survive three days. It's perfect for a small family and only requires you to add special needs items like prescription medicine and baby supplies.
After the disaster in Japan the supplier, Survival Kits Online, donated equipment and time to help those in need overseas. After a short delay for humanitarian causes, they are back and supplying the US; I got my family's kit a few days ago and couldn't be happier.

the array of items in bag are good and ample. this is a good emergency bag if you are not willing to put your own together or don't have the time.(much better than nothing)you could put one together much cheaper. the only drawback is the quality of items, most are cheaply made, although they will work in a pinch. and the first aid kit is probably the worst part. its nothing more than bandaids basically-you can pick one up for $5.But overall it will help you survive when the time comes
5.0 out of 5 stars Earthquake supplies, April 12, 2011

This review is from: 4 Person Survival Kit Deluxe Perfect Earthquake, Evacuation, Emergency Disaster Preparedness 72 Hour Kits for Home, Work or Auto: 4 Person
This earthquake supply kit has it all. They thought of everything. It is packaged well with room to spare.
There were less expensive kits, but they have less product and the quality of the individual pieces does not match up.
I hope to never need to use the supplies inside, but if I do, I will feel safe.
4.0 out of 5 stars A Little Levity, Please., April 21, 2011
By Anakonda - Amazon Verified PurchaseThis review is from: 4 Person Survival Kit Deluxe Perfect Earthquake, Evacuation, Emergency Disaster Preparedness 72 Hour Kits for Home, Work or Auto: 4 Person
I've never wrote a product review, but after reading some of the blistering negative ones I felt compelled to provide a little levity. I, too, ordered my kit in the wake of the Japanese earthquake because I've been putting off creating my own and that event was a rude wake-up call for all of us living in SoCal. And I also had to wait over a month to get my kit, which arrived today, due to the overwhelming amount of procrastinators like me who waited to finally create an emergency plan. However, I emailed the company a few days ago to inquire as to the status of my order (it was shown as shipped on March 27th) and received a reply the next day explaining that they and their suppliers have been backlogged with the number of requests. Makes sense. They also apoligized profusely for the delay and explained that their system automatically generates a ship date based on the order time. Under normal circumstances I am sure that everything operates smoothly, but these are not normal circumstances. I sincerely believe the company is doing its best to fulfill the orders--to the extent of even hiring more help, which is a welcome event given the 12% unemployment rate in California. Was I happy that I had to wait a month to get the kit? No. Is it also partially my fault for waiting so long to get one? Yes.
Personally, I was impressed with how professionally the company dealt with my request and the contents are exactly what I was needing to protect my family. I would not hesitate to order from them again.
5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Kit..., May 9, 2011

This review is from: 4 Person Survival Kit Deluxe Perfect Earthquake, Evacuation, Emergency Disaster Preparedness 72 Hour Kits for Home, Work or Auto: 4 Person
Understandably, this kit took awhile to get. I ordered (along with everyone else it seems) right after the tsunami. It did take about a month to get the kit, but when it arrived I was very pleased. I was expecting a huge package, but it arrived in a very nice, durable duffle. Compact enough to fit just about anywhere. All the items were packed neatly, and fit snugly. Great kit for the money AND the peace of mind.
2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money, April 19, 2012

With shipping included I paid $233.66. After receiving the kit I would have to say that the items included are very cheap and not worth the money. You would be better off taking the list of items from the product description and buying higher quality items individually. It probably would be cheaper as well.

5 Stars Excellent Customer Service, May 12, 2010

I found out my shipment was lost after a few weeks and called customer service - they immediately sent out a new shipment. The emergency kit (4 Person Deluxe Survival Kit) I ordered for my home had so many things in it compared to other kits available on market which makes it totally worthwhile. Having the kit makes me feel more prepared for natural disasters (e.g. earthquakes). I would definitely consider buying more items from this seller to put in my car and work place!

This does NOT come with the Toilet lid. Most of this stuff priced at walmart is less then what this costs, but if you dont want to have to put one together, its ok for what you pay for. We have 8 people to have to get kits for which is why I got this one. I thought it would be easier to not have to think about what is in the kit. I dont think I would buy another one, but this one has the basics if that is what you are looking for.

The gear is all there and came pretty quick. Funny to get a five gallon bucket in the mail. The rations have a 6 year expiration I believe, as far as the rest goes the masks are the same ones you get at home depot, and everything else is the same grade as a colemans first aid kit with a little more for survival too.

NASA's Goddard, Glenn Centers look to lift space astronomy out of the fog

A fogbank is the least useful location for a telescope, yet today's space observatories effectively operate inside one. That's because Venus, Earth and Mars orbit within a vast dust cloud produced by comets and occasional collisions among asteroids. After the sun, this so-called zodiacal cloud is the solar system's most luminous feature, and its light has interfered with infrared, optical and ultraviolet observations made by every astronomical space mission to date.

Only the lowest carbon dioxide emitting technologies can avoid a hot end-of-century

Could replacing coal-fired electricity plants with generators fueled by natural gas bring global warming to a halt in this century? What about rapid construction of massive numbers of solar or wind farms, hydroelectric dams, or nuclear reactors -- or the invention of new technology for capturing the carbon dioxide produced by fossil-fueled power plants and storing it permanently underground? A research team calculated the expected climate effects of replacing the world's supply of electricity from coal plants with any of eight cleaner options.
